On my bed now in our Palm Cabin @ Ashmore Palm Village, it's 10:30pm local time i.e. 8:30pm back home. TH and the kids are watching Water Horse while I am penning this.
This trip is actually a reward for JS who scored straight As in his UPSR last year. This holiday is a year overdue and after half a year planning, we are actually here.
It was an awesome trip. A trip that has brought back the excitement of yesteryear especially for a 41 year old mum, me!
We picked up our hired car from the Brisbane Airport and headed down to Gold Coast excitedly. It took us less than an hour to reach our destination, The Ashmore Palm Village. With our navigation device, GPS, travelling in our car on our own was easy, fun and relaxing.
Weather was cooling and breezy this time of November and it was almost perfect for our outings to the theme parks. We visited Movie World, Sea World, Dream World, Wet n Wild and Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.
Initially, I was reluctant to do the items at the theme parks but due to the kids persistence and excitement, I hated to dissappoint them, I gave in for their sake. The outcome was the least I expected. We had tremendous fun doing those items together, be it the kids ride or the more challenging ones. We were so carried away by the excitement and thrill so much so that we behaved like we were in our teens, cool! We had ice cream, pop corns, soft drinks, etc together everywhere we went and I almost forgot what CALORIES are......
I am so glad that we made this trip at this stage of life when my two darlings 'shine' like glittering gold. It was so fun to be with them on this trip. I will always remember the memorable moments on this trip. Little JW so eagerly to do the Tornado at Wet n Wild with us but ended up bursting in tears after completing the ride, out of extreme fear. It was an impromptu response and we were all taken aback. We felt in love with a cute little dancing bird called Sam at the backyard of our cabin and it makes us laugh each time we visited it. It danced vigirously for us without fail, amazing! TH had fun with the kitchen utensil each day, got up early and enjoyed preparing breakfast for all of us, nice! Not forgotten that lovely afternoon, we bought a whole roasted chicken from Woolworth Supermarket, drove to the sea side, winded down our car window to feel the cool breeze and strong waves and tore the chicken apart with our bare hands and enjoyed it while listening to our own Jay Chou CD. It was so relaxing.

About Woolworths Supermarket, we patronized it almost every day, stocked our breakfast and snacks. We bought lots of chocolates, gummies, ice cream, marshmellow, cookies, fruits and those Australian products are simply yummy. And they have this self service check out machines where we scan, pack and pay on our own without a cashier. Am so proud of my kids, real fast learners they are, they can master the machines in few minutes and from then on, they fought to be the cashier everytime we check out, hehehe.
As our holiday was about to end, we spent the last two days in Brisbane where we visited most of the parks and pools in the city. The Brisbane river moved me, it was so beautiful at night. We couldnt help but did a packed dinner on the bench at the river bank. No wonder most people wish to migrate to that part of the world, I agree no less.
