My 45th Birthday

13.4.14 - It's 11:45pm now and I am penning this in a very good mood.

My gal wished me the best birthday ever in her FB posting and indeed it was the best and a memorabel one too.  Memorable because of my boy.  I was at awe and flattered when I received a medal from him for being the best mother in the world and I am actually the champion, gosh! I never thought my boy will think highly of me.  Regardless of how strict I was on him and gave him tough times, I still get his appreciation. I am so happy for myself and my boy.  My boy has a very high EQ and he is a capable boy. As for my gal, I always have a soft spot for her, because we are both females and have common thoughts on most things.

Yesterday it was my birthday and it was also the Cross Country Run event for my kids at the Lake Garden.  Initially TH and I thought we will jog with them in the event but on the day before, our 16 year old Whirlpool washing machine broke down and there was no more spare part for an old junk like it. And coincidentally I saw in The Star about the ongoing Bosch clearance sale in Shah Alam.  Since a new washing machine is urgently required, we wasted no time but to head out there for a good buy.  We ended up with a high end washing machine and also a built in dishwasher.

Then, we picked the kids up from Lake Garden.  My boy was aiming for top 20 placing in the run.  So when we ask him how did he fare.  He said he didnt make it but he got medals for me!! Surprise, it was my birthday gifts. My boy wrote, I am the best mother in the world and gave me a champion salutation.  My gal also wrote I am the best mother ever.  It was so sweet of them.  I was flattered and very happy.

Then, we headed down to Imbi to buy my birthday cake at Levaine, a French bakery.  I chose a mango layer cake for a change this year instead of the chocolate cake most times.  Then we enjoyed lunch at nearby famous Ipoh Chicken Ho fun.  By the way, JW friend, S.Xuan was with us as we offered her a lift home.  When we reached home, we waited for the Bosch items to come.  They came late and TH and the kids were excited. They helped to install and clean up the machine.  In no time, we all surrounded the machine for testing out.  The high end machine lit up beautifully with modern technology called IDOS, intelligent dosage system.  I can put up to 8kg load of laudry, 3kg more than before. The machine will weigh the load and automatically determine how much detergent and water needed for the wash.

Well, after the excitement we celebrated my birthday withcake cutting and took many memorable shots, simply beautiful. Everyone was in a joyous mood. After the celebration, we were all still very much awake and alive though it was late.  So, everyone agreed to watch the Piranha movie and eventually went to bed at 1am.

Today, we went to the Curve and had a good session of karaoke at Red Box.  We enjoyed ourselves very much.  Everyone took turn to sing and nobody was bored and left out.  I felt so contented listening to my kids rendering songs of their choices and in their very own unique way. I will never get tired of hearing my boy sing Jay Chou songs. The kids had a blast and me too at the thought of knowing that my family especially TH were there singing because of me.  I am so thankful.  Then, we went for a show, Rio 2.It was entertaining though TH dozed off for a short while due to too much singing in the show.  Anyway, I am on cloud nine today because I had my family with me on this great day.

Before the show, we split up.  The kids spent some time at the bookstore while TH accompanied me to Vista to make appointment for my Lasik surgery next week.  I am determined to do it after few days of consideration.  It's now or never.

Then we met up for the show.  After the show, we had dinner at Dragon I as TH was looking forward to enjoy their promotion of $1 for a soya sauce chicken at a minimum 3 pax dining in.  We truly enjoyed our dinner and left for home.  JW ironed the school uniform before calling it a day.  My boy bought a cover for his handphone at the Curve and he is so like me, so choosy. Good to have some expectation.

Our Hatyai Trip 2013

This CNY, I went to Hatyai with my family.  It was a short getaway.  We drove there in our BMW.  It was no hassle to go through custom as we have done our homework prior to departure.  We managed well.

We reached the border at around 4am and had a light breakfast before we proceeded to do our insurance.  As the custom opens at 6am, we had to wait in our car in the queue.  It took us about an hour at the custom before we drove another 45mins to get into Hatyai town. It was about 8am when we reached and we headed straight for our first destination, Lucky Dim Sum.  With GPS, we made our way easily. Dim sum was ordinary, nothing to shout about but it was fun after all.  Then we made our way to the market where we bought some cashew nuts and almond for Susan.  While waiting for check in at 2pm, we went to Sittara Spa next door and had a session of Sittara Massage Package for 2 hours @ RM220 per person.  Sauna and steam were ordinary but the bubble bath was great and relaxing.  The spa jet was strong enought to make my body itched and it was comfortable.  I had the whole spa bathroom by myself at that non peak hour. The oil massage was pampering too until I dozed off.  Overall it was a great spa though a bit costly.  The kids waited for us with their gadgets but poor JS dozed off.  It was a tiring car trip and finally we checked into De Poem Boutique.  It was huge with a living space and a bedroom with a double bed and 2 singles.  Our say was good and location wise, we had no problem getting into town within 5 mins.

Towards the evening, we went to the nearby Beef and Beef Restaurant and had Thai food for dinner.  Food was just of average.  Then we went to town and had some pak kor dessert before walking around in the busy night market.

Next day, we looked around for the famous chicken rice and bak kut teh.  It was good.  Then, we started our shopping spree.  Went to Central and Robinson.  Bought some bras, nighties, t-shirts for the kids, souvenirs, zebra kettle, etc.  We had dinner at MK steamboat that is quite similar to Coca, not bad!

On the final day, we had our last meal at Kan Eng Restaurant, a popular Thai eatery.  It was good.  Then, we made our last stop at Tesco Lotus to get some cheap stuff before headed to the custom.  Gosh! A terrible jam welcome us and we were stuck for almost 2 hours.  By the time we left custom, it was already late and we reached Ipoh at 11pm.  We had chicken rice for supper before roaming around for a budget hotel to put a night.  We decided to stay a night so that we can enjoy the delicious Ming Court dim sum early the next day.  So we found a newly opened hotel that was doing a CNY promotion.  We checked into Downtown Hotel for an executive room with a sofa and an extra bed, just nice and it's for a mere $180.

Very early morning at 7am, TH woke all of us up to have dim sum.  He worried if we were late, we may not get a table.  Haiz,we were all so sleepy and didnt really enjoy the food. We just dont have the appetite so early in the morning.   We walked back to the hotel and rested for a while before we bid farewell.

Shopping Spree with My gal

It's almost 2pm now on 2.9.14 and I will be leaving the house in an hour time to school.  TH is out to Kuala Selangor to bring back the mended swing chair and I am all alone this day with Lassie.  There was a little mishap just now when the door at the kitchen slammed closed by the wind while I was out in the backyard feeding Lassie.  I was locked outside because the door can only be opened from inside. Gosh! I was left in the dark but I didnt panic at all.  I stood calm and continued with my feeding and watering the plants while thinking of ways to get in.  Naturally, I try out the first option which is to enter from the front.  I used a leave rack to get the keys from the front and it worked out perfectly for me.  Thanks GOD.  I got the keys and entered the house from the front. Great!

Now, I want to pen down what transpired yesterday.  Firstly, I like to commend my boy for willing to stay at home to revise for his ongoing SPM Trial exam all alone and did not complain about our plan to leave him at home on a holiday.  Well, my gal earned her $100 reward from me and wanted to go shopping for clothes with it.  She was very lucky that day when I threw a challenge to both of them in the car.  Told them that we have chosen the number for our new Nissan Teana and asked them to take a wild guess on the Letter in front of the 955.  As it is a Malacca number plate, it is MCP 955 and I was pretty sure that it was a tough guess and willing to part with a $100 cash reward if they guess it correctly. Then my gal asked a good question and I was too silly to give an answer, a hint that directly led her to the answer.  She asked if any of the letters has relevance to us and I said M for Montana. She guessed MCJ, then she guessed MCP, damn! Damn lucky she was! Sob sob, there went my cash to the lucky gal.

Back to yesterday, it was the first time my gal and I went shopping together for clothes like buddies.  At first, I thought I can go with her, just the two of us in case TH did not want to go but he drove us there and let us shop on our own, great!  We set a time to meet up for tea and dinner and the rest of the time, my gal and I happily enjoyed our shopping.  We enjoyed choosing our own clothes, trying them out together, giving opinions and eventually buying them.  This was the very first time my 13 years old gal chose her own clothing and queued up to make payment with her own money. Previously, she was still very excited about going to bookstore and read up books while I go shopping.  Now, she has grown up and began to enjoy shopping for clothing and items that she adores.

We shopped at FOS, Cotton On, Forever 21 and etc. She commented that the branded clothes were very expensive.  Guess she learnt the value of money from our shopping spree.  She is a wise gal in terms of spending. She is not a spoilt brat who wants expensive items. She understands money and knows how to get it well spent.  She asked for permission to buy her friend SX a gift and of course, it was kind of her to appreciate friend and she has the green light to do so. She got her a nice scrapbook.

In total, my gal bought a pair of jean short, a skirt, two t-shirt, a grey camisole and a pencil case from Lovely Lace.  She was very happy and had not got enough of it but poor dad was just too tired waiting. So, after dinner at Dubu Dubu Korean Restaurant, we left for home.  My gal understood and left in a good and satisfying mood.

Well, looks like I have found a partner in shopping. She has grown up and we now share a common pastime. I am grateful.

TH Biggest Strength

21.5/14 - As I am penning this, TH is out in PJ subject to another stressful day. No, there's no big deal about it.  It's just that I am feeling blessed and a little guilty for not with him at the moment.  He is meeting Mr. Lim and his lawyer about Kuang land. It is business and he is trying his very best to close the deal.  It may sound simple to do a transaction where both parties agree to buy and sell but the true fact is it is not.  As TH is also not too well verse with the legal aspect, he will definitely find it tough to make certain decisions.  Of course we met Mr. Ng Chek yesterday for his legal advise and was briefed slightly. Well, TH will relate all to me once he's back like a student reporting to his teacher. And I, the teacher will always be delightful to give my two cents and sometimes I get nasty and cross the boundary and pressure him further. It is so easy for me to give advice but he's the one to act on it. I understand him and I truly appreciate him.

Well, that is the reason I need to pen this down,  I see the biggest strength in TH and it is this strength that makes him a success in all his endeavor. He has a good nature.  His ability to oblige to kindness and compassion makes him a highly patient man. Even when he is treated unfairly, he will still think for an excuse for the other party and swallow the bitter pill. I realize that he can actually be a very successful business man because of this nature.  Moreover, he has the ability to make his friends or associates comfortable with him. He is hardworking too.

In the same way at home, he is truly the man in the house. He shoulders all responsibilities that is required of him and with his good nature, he is able to accept a wife who can be nasty to him at times.  Of course, that is when I lose total control. I always appreciate him and will be his pillar of support at all times. Love him.....
