A Dear Friend Diagnosed Cancer

14.9.11 - Last month, my friend had a surgery and was diagnosed malignant cancer on her ovary and breast. Text her few times but no reply. We are good buddies at night, when night falls and times to destress and let down our hair. We are drinking buddies.

Now I am very worried about her. I hope she will be fine. Most times, we drank to our fullest and abused our body. We took our health for granted. We had best times ever but could it now be a pay back time.

I begin to do a lot of reading these days on breast cancer. In fact I also have a lump on my left breast for years and I have been seeing doctors at Selayang Hospital half yearly for monitoring and follow up. Mammogram and ultrasound have failed to detect it though it can be felt by hand. All previous doctors assured me that it is fibroadenomas, meaning a growth made up of fibrous and glandular tissue.

When I read more these days, I realize that I am not taking my problem seriously because I should not just accept assumption but to do a biopsy. Time is of essence in case of cancer treatment, the earlier we know the better chances to get well. Hmm, so worried....
