19.12.11 - It's 3:37am in the wee morning on this day and I am still pretty much awake. Why? Came home from Dubai just yesterday morning at 9am, headed straight to bath and did nothing more. I slept until 4pm. Was totally exhausted, so I had a sound sleep. My kids joined me in my bed and they too had a good sleep. Due to the time differences, I am still not able to adjust yet, so ended up writing this at this point of time.
Well, let me sum up my trip. It was another excellent holiday with my family. We checked into the Atlantis at a promotional rate of RM2,000 per night and I say, it worths the money. We stayed there for 2 nights and had a blast. We checked in as early as 7am and left the hotel as late as 8pm. We were pampered at the Club Lounge for snacks and drinks all day long, laptop available all the time for kids, free access to Aquaventure Water park, The Lost Chamber, Kids Club and Club Rush too. All the facilities are great, huge, clean and satisfying. Visitors are not permitted to enter the hotel vicinity and that makes the hotel so prestigious and great.
Atlantis made our stay a memorable one when they left a birthday card and cake in the room on 11.12.11 for TH. The kids brought along their handmade birthday cards for dad. We celebrated that night in our room and it was good. Next day, I gave TH a treat. It was an experience of a lifetime, we actually went to the Burj Al Arab, world 7 star hotel for Afternoon Tea. The Skyview Bar gave TH a complimentary cake (a tiny one) for his birthday. He was so pampered. Though we both did not really enjoy the food but we had good moments together at that special place. After tea, we headed back to Atlantis to ppick up the kids and checked into Xclusive Apartment in the old city. We walked over to Spinney Supermarket and bought eggs, milk and etc for tomorrow breakfast. Weather was cooling and it was a nice 10-min stroll.
Following day, we walked over to the Dubai Museum and spent about half an hour. My gal enjoyed it most. Then we had Sarpino's Italian pizzas for lunch. It was delicious. Then, we headed to the creek where we took the 1dirham water taxi (abra) to cross over the river. Across, we visited 3 famous markets for gold, textiles and spices. Bought a souvenir there, a glass miniature of the Burj Al Arab for 15dirham. In the late evening, we boarded a marina cruise with buffet and belly dance show on board. The night view of the Marina Dubai are simply breathtaking, so beautiful. We had a great evening too.
Next day, we visited the shopping malls with our first stop at IBN Battuta at the far end of the Metro Line. We bought a one day metro ticket @ 14dirham each for unlimited rides. The metro is so modern, clean and comfortable. It was a good ride. On this day, I noticed that most of the shopping malls in Dubai are interestig in their own way. It was so comfortable to shop in the unique ambience. It was indeed a satisfying shopping experience. Went to Mall of Emirates and Dubai Mall too. Had early dinner at TGI Fridays and enjoyed the musical fountain there. Simply awesome show!
We went on a safari desert tour the next day, enjoyed dune bashing, camel rides, buffet dinner with show at the camp in the desert. We were transported there in a landcruiser with extra fitting (lined with steel bar for extra protection). My boy jumped at the front seat beside the driver and had the most fun doing the dune bashing. The driver is skilful and it was fun. There was also a stop in the deep desert where we got down and ran up a little hill on the fine sand. At the camp, the kids rode on camels. Knowing that the kids like the sand art in the bottle, we bought one with our names written on it for memory. Brilliant art work!
Finally, our holiday ended with a simple city tour. Practically, we went to most of the places before but this time, we had a tour guide. We learnt more about Dubai from him. I made effort to jot down some of the interesting facts about the country on my BB. Then we requested to be dropped off at the Mall of Emirates. We did our final shopping. The kids went to Borders while TH and I did some shopping. We bought quite a number of things and it was just satisfying.
After we checked out from Xclusive, we left our luggages behind while we made our last visit, to the Creek Park. It was a green park, clean and huge. We rented some bikes for an hour of exploration. There, JS had fun with his newly bought football, a tiny one. He also had a good experience with pop corn. He bought a packet from Sinney and learnt how to cook it in the microwave. The butter popcorn was delicious and we enjoyed it at the park.
So, that was it. We made our way to Xclusive Apartment, collected our luggages and off we went to airport. Overall, the holiday was good and I am thankful that my family are there with me. They made my trip!
It's 4:55am now, looks like I have nothing else to do now, other than sleep. 99
